Q: What Happens at a counselling Session?
A: At your first session Chris will talk with you for up to one hour. Some people find this session is all they need to clear their thinking and help them decide what to do and no further counselling is necessary. You and your counsellor will talk through your problems up until you decide that they are no longer problems.
Q: How can Counselling help me?
A: Counselling helps you take time out from your situation and see it from a fresh perspective. Working with a counsellor gives you, or you and your partner, a chance to think about what you can do to change your situation for the better.
Q: How do I make an appointment to talk to Chris?
A: Ring, email or talk via Live Chat to Chris.
Q: Do I need to be referred to Chris?
A: No.
Q: Is adelaidecounsellor the right place to come for my problem?
A: adelaidecounsellor is all about relationships, personal problems and helping you make changes for the better. If you want to talk about your relationships past, present or future, how your family is affected by your relationship, how you can improve your relationship.
Q: Do I have to pay for the services?
A: You will normally be expected to pay a fee. We do not make a profit from the services we provide. The fee is to cover the cost of sessions and to provide the best possible service.
Q: Can I come on my own?
A: Yes. Whether you are single, or if you have a partner who doesn't want to come or you simply want to discuss things alone you are welcome to bring any aspect of your current, past or future relationships or your personal problems to Chris by yourself.
Q: Is counselling confidential?
A: Counselling is completely confidential. We will not give your name or any information about you to anyone, without your permission; unless someone's personal safety is at risk.
Q: Does Chris have any special training?
A: Chris has received special training in couple and individual counselling (see qualifications). It takes two to three years to become a fully qualified counsellor. They undergo further training to specialise in areas such as family counselling, sex therapy, psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. Chris has had 18 years training.
Q: How many sessions will I need?
A: This varies from person-to-person and can depend on the sort of issue you are bringing. We can talk about this when we meet. However, you may like to know that I am committed to ensure that you attend for only the minimum number of sessions you require to ensure that the problems are solved.
